Turn school emails into calendar events, from WhatsApp

Yes. With Ordaily (from R299 a month) you forward or paste the school email into your Ordaily chat on WhatsApp. It spots the date and asks “Add it to your calendar? Reply yes”, and when you say yes it adds the event to your Google Calendar, or your Microsoft Calendar (in beta). It takes one date per email. How to keep track of school emails and forms
The term calendar, the newsletter, the sports fixtures, the note about the class outing. All the school dates arrive by email, and getting them into one place means typing each one into your calendar by hand, or hoping you remember.
With Ordaily you hand the email over in WhatsApp, where you already are, and it does the typing for the date in it: one date per email, so it suits the notice about one event, like the outing or the match. It asks first, every time.
How it works
Forward or paste it
Forward the school email to your Ordaily chat on WhatsApp, or copy and paste its text there.
Ordaily spots the date
It reads the date out of the email, one date per email, and asks: “Add it to your calendar? Reply yes”.
Say yes
Reply yes and the event goes into your calendar. Say nothing, and nothing is added.
It does not go looking through your inbox for dates on its own. You choose which emails go in, it takes one date from each, and nothing is added without your yes.
Questions
- Is there an app that turns school emails into calendar events?
- Yes.
- Does Ordaily find the dates in my inbox by itself?
- No. You choose which emails go in: forward or paste each one into your Ordaily chat, and it asks before adding anything. It does not add dates from your inbox on its own.
- Which calendars does it add to?
- Google Calendar, or Microsoft Calendar, which is in beta.
- Can I paste just the text?
- Yes. Paste the text of the email into your Ordaily chat and it works the same way: it spots the date and asks before adding it.
- Can it add every date from a term calendar or a newsletter?
- No. It takes one date per email. A term calendar or a newsletter full of dates still needs typing in, or forward the notice for each event on its own. It does not read photos or PDFs into your calendar.
- Can it help me see extramural clashes?
- Once the dates are in your calendar, your morning or evening briefing shows them together, as text or a voice note, so a clash between the gala and the lift club shows up before the day.
- How do I stop missing school permission slips and deadlines?
- Forward or paste the school email into your Ordaily chat on WhatsApp. It spots the date and adds it to your calendar on your yes, one date per email. Then set a reminder too, by text or voice note, such as “remind me on Tuesday to sign the permission slip”, and Ordaily reminds you on WhatsApp in time.
- Can it remind me about a form?
- Yes. Send a text or a voice note such as “remind me on Wednesday to sign the trip form” and Ordaily reminds you on WhatsApp.
Forward it. Say yes. It is in the calendar.
